Hello,

Over the past eight years JUNK has been tucked away in the Funk cave wading through Juju like wet cement. We have experienced highs and lows. At times we marveled at our feats of creation with a childish enthusiasm, at others we pondered the meaning of certain rectangles and the questions that they pose. The result is fresh, honest, music.

JUNK is fucking ecstatic to announce that we will be playing our first show in what seems like a very long time. We have a bevy of new Tunez including but not limited to “Nothin’ Yet” and “The Cut” which are both featured on our upcoming EP (keep your ears peeled). On Friday the 24th of June JUNK would love it if you came to Foundry 616 to experience that very very specific feeling once again (possibly for the last time). We can’t wait to share it with you beautiful people.

We have missed you.

JUNK xoxo

Hello,

JUNK has been so busy in the studio laying down tracks for their third EP that it has only recently come to their attention that they have neglected to update the fucking website. So here it is. Sunday will see the completion of recording on the two tracks "Ain't Feelin Nothin" and "King and Queen" to be followed by a period of editing and mixing before their eventual release hopefully in early 2016. To be brutally honest the tracks are sounding legit. JUNK have enlisted the help of producer George Sheridan who has brought a more modern and fresh side out of the usual funky JUNK vibe. The band is really keen for you all to hear the results so please sit tight and wait for more news. New JUNK tracks are going to be hitting you between the ears before you know it.

Hello,

Been a while since we checked in. JUNK have been in the woodshed working on the bands new recording which should be set to go to the studio in the next few weeks. We are chatting to a few hip young producers, so hopefully there should be some fresh sounds on this latest release. JUNK is really excited and hopes you are looking forward to it as well.

Hello,

Friday 14th of November will see JUNK play the last of its residential shows at Foundry 616. It’s been quite the wild ride, including laughter, tears, yelling, dancing, hugging, but mostly just the laying down of some sweet beats and melodies. The final installment is not to be missed, JUNK has been in a hibernation period and has produced some new genre eluding songs to treat your ears and eyes to. Hopefully see you all at Foundry 616 to be followed (as per usual) by the jazz/hip-hop jam.
Also, thanks to everyone who came down to check us out at the Marrickville Festival. Another great event this year, and we can't wait to be asked back again. Fingers crossed.

JUNK is very pleased to announce that it will be back at Foundry for its second Friday residency slot on the 3rd of October. Anyone who was at the last gig will tell you that it could only have been described as colourful, with a lot of crowd participation. We have a volley of new tunez to fire at you, as well as a mix of your ol’ faves. The jazz/hip-hop jam will be following at 11pm again, so there is no reason not to be there.

Hello,

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who partied with JUNK at the UNSW Foundation Day. You intellectuals, when you go you really go. There were plenty of young go getters freaking out on the dance floor, and that is always a pleasing sight.
The next few months are going to be big for JUNK. The band is teaming up again with the very good people at Foundry 616 to play a residency consisting of Friday night gigs over the next three months. Foundry 616 is a very hip venue committed to programming real Sydney music and musicians, so make sure you come down and check out one, two, or even three of the gigs on offer.
JUNK has been experiencing quite a fertile period of creativity recently, having locked themselves in the funk cave and going at it hammer and tongs. New works in progress include the minimal hip-hop vibes of "Honest," as well as the neo-soul tones of "Happy Man." In recording news, JUNK is hoping to head in again in the remaining months of the year to record a single which might possibly include "Feeling Nothing Yet," "Don't Measure Up," or "Keys." Make sure you get down to a gig so you can hear the tunes before then.

Hello,

JUNK would like to give a very belated thank you to everyone who managed to get down to the gigs at The Basement and Foundry 616 a few weekends ago. Both events were incredible nights of music in which JUNK had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some incredible musicians. Stay tuned for more info on gigs coming up in the next month. Also, very exciting news coming about a new single being recorded entitled "Don't Measure Up".

Hello,

JUNK is straight up geed to announce that we will be playing at The Basement on Friday the 6th of June. As part of Vivid Sydney, we will be sharing the stage with Laneous & The Family Yah and MKO. These guys are the real deal, and by that we mean that they don’t play. JUNK has been a fan of both these groups for years now so we are going to be getting our shit tight for this one. It will be an RnB/neo-soul/hip-hop/pop/psychedelic wonderland.

See you all there,

JUNK

JUNK have been in hibernation over the last few months. The band has been deep in the Funk cave composing a volley of brand new tunes to unleash on an unsuspecting public. Of particular note is the very slick "Do Something", as well as the JUNK's new favourite song "Don't Measure Up". This tune has been written with a very deep Neo-Soul vibe in mind, and a beautiful hook written by saxophonist Kevin Camrass. Be sure to check out the new tunes when JUNK plays their next gig. Details to come shortly.

It is going to be another huge year for JUNK, with the band looking forward to playing a lot of gigs and writing a lot of new tunes. Speaking of which, JUNK is pumped to play the brand new song "Maternity Leave" at shows in the near future.

JUNK has had two killer gigs recently at Oxford Art Factory and FBi Social and would like to thank everyone who managed to make it out to them for a boogie woogie. Big love goes out to Ginger and Drum for inviting the band to share the stage with them at their EP Launch. It was a seriously heavy night.

Coming up for JUNK is a night at the Australian Museum for Jurassic Lounge. Everything you ever loved about a JUNK show, but with the added bonus of dinosaurs, and a slim chance you might learn something. Party on.

Hey there,

First and foremost, a big thank you has to go out to all the people who came down to the recent gigs at the Beach Road Hotel, and the Masquerade Rooftop Party in Marrickville. You guys are our actual shit and JUNK loves you. Secondly, everyone in the band wanted to let the population know about a sweet little tune we have been polishing up called “Keys” (working title). It has a super chill neo-soul vibe, and we are having a love affair with it at the moment, so look out for it at our next gig.

Speaking of which, JUNK will be playing at Oxford Art Factory (Gallery Bar) next Friday night. The band loves this venue, and hasn’t played there in a few years, so it is shaping up as a pretty special night. Also playing on the night is local Sydney soul band Beaten Bodies. These guys are off the chain, so you definitely want to get yourselves down to this one.

Kicking things off nice and early, JUNK will be playing a support slot at The Beach Road Hotel on the first Saturday of the month. First and foremost, a huge thank you goes out to all the beautiful people who attended our EP launch at the Vanguard last week. The sell out crowd and amazing venue made it a night to remember for JUNK and the fans. A great night of Funk…

Following the success of the launch, we are pushing the EP round to the local Sydney radio stations, so keep your ears to the ground for our tracks cropping up over the next few weeks. If you can’t wait that long, you can listen to ‘Sophie Lately’ and ‘Body Love’ on our Triple J Unearthed page.

Apart from that JUNK is looking to spend the rest of the year doing what they do best; playing live music. There are plenty of gigs lined up for the next few months, so make sure you get down to one and get your hit of JUNK.

Greetings!

The EP II is all finally finished. It is recorded, mixed, mastered and all packed up with a bow on it. The only thing left to do is give that beast a listen. Our first single off the EP entitled 'Body Love' can be heard exclusively on Triple J Unearthed. So get on there and give it a cheeky review.

A Big thanks goes out to all the beautiful people who made it out to the Roxbury Hotel on the 26th. We had an outrageously fun and funky evening, we hope you did as well.

The EP launch has been confirmed for the 1st of June at The Vanguard in Newtown. The Vanguard is one of JUNK's favourite venues to play music, it is going to be an incredible night, so make sure you get yourselves down there. Insanely funky people Bin Juice, and No Illuminati will be in support. Tickets are available here. Make sure you get yours before they disappear!

Hey guys it's been a while!

Junk has been on a brief hiatus as we prepare our newest recording for the masses. We've been hard at work refining 4 new tracks for our forthcoming EP. Working at REC studios in the CBD we're very excited about what we've heard so far. Expect to see us back on stage in March with the EP slated for release a month or two after that.

Check out the new photos of us in action in the studio!

Remember to check back here for more updates and for everything JUNK!

Huge news!

JUNK is playing the Mac (Sydney Brewhouse) on the 3rd of November. Serious Funk fans will be no strangers to the Mac, it is Sydney's only dedicated Funk music venue; the perfect place for JUNK to get real physical. This is definitely a JUNK gig not to be missed, full of the tightest grooves and the loosest behaviour.

In news from the band room, JUNK has locked down studio time in mid December to record our second EP. This release will have more of a soul, hip-hop flavour to it, with tracks including 'Say Boy', 'Triple JJJ', 'Body Love', and 'Sophie Lately'. Look out for all these tracks as well as other new JUNK material at the Mac!
